Bar Type Mud Flap Hangers
Mud flap regulations can vary greatly from state to state, so it’s best to follow general guidelines and keep your mud flaps at no more than six inches from the ground. In order to properly adjust your mudflaps, you need mud flap hangers.

Spring Loaded Mud Flap Hangers
Specially engineered to meet the FMVSS108 standards mandated for all trucks manufactured after 1 July 1997, our spring loaded mud flap hangers are available in a variety of configurations to meet your needs. The unique pentroof styling of our spring loaded mudflap brackets allows conspicuity tape to be applied directly to the hanger itself without any added material weight.
We’ve developed a full line of spring loaded mudflap hangers, including straight, tapered, angled and lighted designs, making it easy to find the right model for your truck or trailer. Open wound springs reduce corrosion, while self-centering tombstones ensure positive alignment. Welded end caps virtually eliminate the intrusion of foreign elements.
We offer spring loaded mud flap brackets in packaged pairs or individually. All our mud flap brackets are 100% made in the USA.
DirectFlex® Mud Flap Retention System
BettsHD’s DirectFlex® system is the only patented mud flap retention system on the market. DirectFlex® (as in Directional Flexibility) has no moving components, making the system nearly maintenance free. Three mounting bracket options are available to accommodate all common installation configurations. The DirectFlex® system is available in both straight and angled styles.
The DirectFlex® mud flap retention system is 100% made in the USA, and built tough to avoid costly downtime for flap hanger repairs. It works with both standard mudflaps and our proprietary ChannelFlap™ mudflaps. Integrated conspicuity markers meet all DOT requirements.

Our trailer mud flap retention system features innovative spring steel mounting brackets, coupled with either our DirectFlex or spring loaded mud flap hangers.

System Options
The BettsHD trailer mud flap retention system is available in two styles: Heavy Duty and Severe Duty Premium. The Heavy Duty option includes spring loaded mud flap hangers; the Severe Duty Premium option features our patented DirectFlex® mud flap hangers.
Three kit options are available for both styles:
- Left-hand replacement or new installation
- Right-hand replacement or new installation
- Complete system retrofit
